Faith receives the gifts God offers in the Sacrament of Baptism. Infant Baptism is effective because God’s Word is able to change a godless heart into a believing heart. The faith of a church is instrumental in how an infant is brought to the waters. Luther uses the example of the healed paralytic to demosntrate that the communion of saints is involved in bringing a child to the waters of Baptism. God works his promises in the life of the baptized.
